A part of the deal of the boys and I moving to Scranton- for one, we would get to be with Micah so that is fabulous. But Micah told me we could do weekend adventures to escape
the lack of excitement in Scranton.
Adventure #1 - Labor day weekend in NYC with the boys!
We've been to New York City at least once a year to visit my friend Jody when she lived out there for 6 years. So we've been able to get a feel for the city from someone who knew it well. So being on our own was interesting without a true guide. We tried to pretend we lived in the city and do what city-goers with kids might do. So we hit up Central Park multiple times and played on playgrounds there, scraped knees on the rocks, saw the ducks and ran around. There are like 25 playgrounds in Central Park and we only made it to two! We also went to Central Park Zoo, walked around Rockefeller Center, FAO Schwarz, Dylan's Candy Bar, went to a church service at Tim Keller's church on the Upper East Side- which I would love to live in by the way. We ate brunch and dinner out each day and had some really good food at Brooklynn Diner, Sarabeth's, Magnolia's Bakery, awesome smoothies from Blue Dog Cafe and a pizza place that was straight out of a mafia movie. We had brunch with Micah's cousins Nora, who goes to Columbia, and Owen and stayed at their Dad's condo with a fantastic location in the city.
It was perfect weather and an easy 2-3 hour drive (minus a couple navigational errors made on my co-pilot part) and the boys slept the whole drive home (unheard of). Fun in the city:)
Micah seriously had Finn on his shoulders 75% of our time in NYC.
Sawyer spent 50% of his time in the stroller and 50% in
the Moby- half of it while being worn by Daddy!
Each day we took a family nap and it was super amazing.
Everyone slept so well! Well, at nap time at least:)
Most of the pictures were taken on Micah's phone so these are all I have right now...
